What are Solideck’s low-ribbed steel decks

Low-ribbed steel decks are steel decks with a rib height below 2 ″(51mm).

Low-rib steel deck type

In SOLIDECK, there are three kinds of low-ribbed steel decks: SD35-750, SD38-914, and SD46-600. These three kinds of steel decks have done some famous projects, SD35-750 is used in the Shanghai World Financial Center project, SD38 -914 is used in Wuhan Huawei factory project, SD46-600 is used in Shanghai Changhai Hospital project.

Advantages of Low-rib steel decks

  • It can be used on floors with relatively small floor thickness, reducing self-weight and increasing floor height;
  • It can be used on flexible roofs, with light weight and no additional load;
  • The span of the supported steel structure is small, generally between 1.2m-2.0m.
  • The price is relatively low, reducing the construction cost.

Disadvantages of Low-rib steel decks

Low-rib steel decks are less rigid due to their low ribs, so the unsupported span they can provide is not large; in addition, due to their low ribs, the strength of steel decks will be much smaller, resulting in a higher load than high-rib decks. The steel deck is smaller.

In steel structure engineering, Low-rib steel decks are a widely used plate type, which is determined according to the engineering situation.
